BECOMING AN EXCHANGE STUDENT

North Penn students have the opportunity to apply to become exchange students at one of our partner schools. Students are typically sent abroad during their 11th grade (junior year), so those interested must complete the application during their 10th grade (sophomore year).

All applicants will be interviewed, and one student is selected for each partner school to represent North Penn High School for the exchange year.

Students must be willing to spend their entire junior year abroad, which means giving up their junior year at North Penn as well as all North Penn activities during that time. This experience provides a unique opportunity to study abroad, immerse yourself in another culture, and gain a perspective that will enrich your life in lasting ways.

The selected student will live with a host family that provides a safe and caring environment, while also helping them adjust to a different culture. By sharing in the daily life of a foreign household, students develop a deeper appreciation for people around the world and become better global citizens.

In addition, the chosen exchange student receives a full scholarship, which covers travel, tuition at the partner school, a monthly stipend, and room and board with the host family.
